Cub Cadet FAQ's

Motor Ignition Requirements

Information by: Roland Bedell

As most of you know, there have been many questions regarding why a Cub Cadet will not start. Typically one can see suggestions that include checking the areas of Fuel and Spark. Recently I had the occasion to talk with a Technical Representative from Kohler Motors. He stated, that there are actually three factors that are needed for successful ignition. The image below shows the three (3) areas, being: Fuel, Spark, & Compression. Even with the Automatic Compression Release [ACR] engaging, a good motor should develop a minimum 50# of compression.
